Exceptional achievements deserve honour

To honour exceptional achievements is a worldwide accepted way to make merits visible. This shows in particular at the “prime level” with the Nobel Prize for scientific achievements and peace, the Right Livelihood Award for human achievements, the Oscar and Golden Globe Award for the movie and entertainment world – as well as uncounted prizes and awards around the world. However to honour those personalities supporting and sponsoring human values in Arts, Culture & Education at an international level is lacking until now - therefore the decision was taken to close this gap by the Apollo Award as soon as the International Delphic Foundation is in function.

With APOLLO “The God of Beauty, Light and the Arts,” the 21st century gains a symbol to encourage mutual understanding between nations.

The Apollo Awards will honour achievers in the realms of culture and the arts combined equally with the technical know-how and achievements of modern times.

The APOLLO Awards also take into consideration the following:

1. Education and innovative flair

2. Initiative in undertaking good deeds for the benefit of the community as a whole

3. To be involved in compassionate work between nations

4. Strong bonds of identity and tradition in the era of globalisation

5. To assist in conserving the cultural heritage of specific countries

Praise of the sponsors and supporters of art and culture

Part of the International Delphic Movement

Of the twelve categories up for awards at least half incorporate the skills of today's world in art, communication and architecture whilst other categories represent a cross-over of yesteryear and today. All have one thing in common, namely the ability to appreciate the varied cultures of the world.

The APOLLO Awards will be decided by an independent panel of judges in conjunction with the International Delphic Foundation (IDF). The awards will be presented by the IDF jointly with the host of the official opening ceremony. The initiation of the newly formed IDF is proposed to take place within Europe. The APOLLO Awards Association Headquarters will thereafter be domiciled within Africa or Asia. It is also anticipated that in the course of time these awards will become as prestigious as the film industry's Academy Awards (the Oscars) presented annually in the USA and the Nobel Prizes presented annually in Sweden.

The Awards Panel will honour the host country and the specific region, at a special venue, for being innovative in art and culture as well as economics and science. This ceremony will also be given international media coverage.

It is proposed that the APOLLO will be awarded to the sponsors and supporters of art and culture, youth work and education, peace and international understanding but not to individual participants. It also takes into consideration the guidelines of the Delphic ideology combined with the merits of the Delphic Movement.

Until the International Delphic Foundation has been officially inaugurated and registered, the International Delphic Council will be responsible for the launch of the Apollo Awards.

The Awards Ceremony Procedure

There are many prizes awarded for successful contributors to the arts and culture, with the Nobel Prizes, the Academy Awards and the Golden Globe Awards being known and recognised throughout the world. It is the desire of the founding members of the Delphic Movement and their associates to ensure that the APOLLO becomes equally prestigious. In so doing we also hope to enlighten, within different countries, awareness of our aims to strengthen the specific skills of art and culture incorporating the many modern techniques now available.
